“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
― Carl R. Rogers Clinical Register No. 27161
“I can only find myself in and between me and my fellows in human conversation”
― Robert Hobson |
I am a Jungian Oriented Psychotherapist and Counsellor clinically registered with PACFA. I work both in private practice and as a family counsellor and group facilitator at Marymead. I am also a Trainee enrolled in the ANZSJA (Jungian) Analyst Training Program.
I have an integrative approach to therapy, responding to the person in front of me. My approach is always Person-Centred, as the quality of the therapeutic relationship is key to fostering safe and in-depth self-exploration and healing. I foster authentic and meaningful communication and connection to strengthen your sense of self. I am passionate about helping you understand, process, and accept your inner experiences and trust you have the resources to resolve them. The Psychodynamic approach supports my focus on self-awareness through insight into unconscious motivations. Working with the unconscious has been a significant contributor to real and lasting change in my life. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy offers many tools that align with my values and personal experience of using mindfulness and acceptance techniques as a Satyananda yoga teacher of 13 years. The central use of metaphors, mindfulness exercises and the existential examination of what matters deep within one's heart resonates with me. I welcome clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, and life transitions such as adolescence, midlife or retirement. I walk alongside my clients, respecting their values, beliefs, uniqueness and right to self-determination. I am passionate about helping clients to express their inner qualities optimally and creatively. I have a depth of training acquired over several years at university and via private training institutes accredited by PACFA. My training included theories of change and human development and also had a strong focus on the personal development of the counsellor. I also have over 15 years of experience as an affiliated and accredited Satyananda Yoga Teacher, registered at Level 2 with Yoga Australia. Yoga philosophy has helped me to develop a great deal of understanding and trust in myself. I can access yoga techniques to reduce anxiety and stress in my life, facilitate a balanced body and mind and create greater harmony within my relationships. I feel empowered, uplifted and blessed by the benefits that yoga consistently brings. You can find my yoga business at www.yogaelements.com.au. Qualifications
